This is great. You know what would even cooler, is have the flash read a config file. In the config file you could turn on or off the text overlay and place your know text. You could even have it so you could have different text overlays with different shapes and text in them set to a given display time. Example: you could have welcome text only display once the flash was run and then have other text overlays display for a given length of time or even only a given day. There are a lot of things we could do with this.

I was going to play with a little, but I have not played with flash in a very long time and my Macromedia Flash MX is kind of old, Flash 6.0 r25, so it drops out when I try and open the .fla file. I’m sure it’s cause it does not know what to do with this newer .fla file. Does anyone know of a good FREE flash editor?

Great little applet. Note to programmers, don't make anything which shows text in a box on the screen without giving us a way to alter or delete the box or the text. Remember you are making the software so others can use it, and they may not love your layout to the same degree you do.

For those who say it doesn't work, have you tried clearing your temp files? Often when changing flash you have to delete the cache to see any changes.

For those asking what does it do, it just removes the 'Welcome to the community' text, allowing you to still use the default images or your own.
